To help give the Rohingya people a trade was one thing that we knew would help them become more self sufficient and give them a way to make money for their families. We met with the head government official responsible for camp three and four and he asked to help with a sewing center. We raised $20,000.00 to buy 200 manual sewing machines.
60 women were chosen by their leaders to go through three months of training and a test at the end of that training. They are taught by a master tailor and 3 assistants.
Upon graduating they received a sewing machine, some basic starter supplies and a chair. November 2018 we graduated our first class of 60. We are in the throws of starting our second group of trainees in the next few weeks. Our hope is to continue this work to impact even greater numbers of women.
